Ongoing Cybersecurity Incident
Updated Feb 28, 2024
We thank residents for their patience during this time and apologize for any inconvenience.
We want to assure residents that we are taking the cybersecurity incident very seriously and have engaged a team of extremely talented experts who are working on this to investigate the matter, protect systems, and minimize the impact on the community.
As the investigation is ongoing and because of the sensitivity of this issue, we continue to request that all inquiries from the media or public about the incident be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org. The City has appointed the City Manager to be the spokesperson to streamline communications.
The list of service disruptions is available on our website, and this list continues to be updated as soon as service impacts are confirmed: www.hamilton.ca/cyberincident. The Customer Contact Centre is operational and able to take phone calls from residents at 905-546-CITY.
The City will proactively provide updates as they become available wherever possible.
Once the systems are fully restored, the City will work with its advisors on any additional measures that will help prevent this from happening in the future.
